Communications and Social Media Training
Tuvel Communications – Online marketing and social media strategy execution to serve technical and professional conferences. Services included wide-ranging and thorough research, relationship building, and intensive one-on-one outreach to appropriate bloggers, user groups, forum, and twitter users.
Dad Tell Me A Story – Personalized social media and online marketing assessment and strategy for self-published author.
StoryNick – Website and social media assessment for storyteller and story coach who has recently reinvented himself and begun a new chapter in a storied life.
Blue Shamrock Communications – Personalized training for established communications professional who is social media-savvy but needed to figure out how to leverage twitter to benefit her own for-profit clients.
Star Light Ministries – I sat on the board of this non-profit which reached out to exotic dancers in a faith-based but non-judmental way. Before it was dissolved in 2009, Star Light was recognized for its amazing work in the Village Voice, the (then New York Times) blog Freakanomics, and on NPR’s Tell Me More. As a board member, I advised Star Light on media matters, and I continue to advise the founder, Rev. Lia Scholl, who continues to minister to sex workers. I blogged why I served on the board of Star Light. Rev. Scholl can also be found on her current site, Rogue Reverend.
KCRW-FM – Everything I learned about the media and telling a story was shaped and sharpened at KCRW. I ran the volunteer corps, which is where I learned to herd cats and project manage (a couple thousand volunteers over several drives, several hundred more through the year for special events, and 150 in the office over several sometimes overlapping shifts from 7 am to 3 am). But what I really learned to do was pitch, edit, produce and tell a tight story at Good Food.
Peace X Peace – I began as an intern and left as director of communications. During my tenure there I launched a weekly news service, which then became a blog. I also launched the organization’s online audio programming, and produced its monthly newsletter.
